April 5, 2011 hey everybody, it's been quite a while since i checked in here, as many other kinds of media are monopolizing our time these days....i wish we'd all go back to letter writing, but since that's a longshot, i figured i'd chime in here....
First of all, i really want to thank all those who came out to the "original" shows we did at Bar Anticipation in February and April. It's great to look out and see all those faces, from these many years, and to see you singing the words, even if in some cases you knew them better than me ! Thanks for that. Once again, i'd like to comment on the April 2nd Bar A show because we intended to play all or almost all originals, but i really believe we would've lost some of the crowd....there happened to be a few private parties goin' on, and they wanted to have a good time too, and if i self-indulgently rammed my orignals down their throats all night, they may have choked, and checked out of the bar, defeating the purpose of entertaining. Thank you to the few of you i talked to that really understood the predicament we were in.... However, it turned out to be a really fun night after all, even though the covers took over a bit..... We'll be setting up more and more original shows at different venues, so be on the look out.....!
Also, as you may have noticed, we've been incorporating our new horn section into shows whenever we can. The Jersey Horns, fronted by Mike Firios have been extremely genorous with their time, and their prices so we can bring brass to you as much as possible. They are also extremely talent, great guys, and it's been a pleasure working with them.... We'll be doing shows with them at Martell's frequently this summer, so i hope you come check it out.
Thursdays at Leggett's with the 'old shot wheel are back....we'll be there every thursday all summer with special guest guitarists and some other tricks up our sleeves, so take off fridays and come to the messaround with us !! In addition, we'll be playing a few new places during the summer....Farrell's is new to us, and they have welcomed us warmly, and it's become one to look forward to. Water Street, in Toms River, is the refurbished Lobster Shanty, and since it's the same owners of the Wharside Patio, expect a great time there too! Another new venue is Longshots, in Waretown....take a trip down to this up and coming great venue.
In the meantime, we are very lucky and blessed to still be asked to play as much as we do, and it never gets taken for granted.....all these places....Martell's, Boathouse, Idle Hour, Patio, River Rock (Marina Grille), Lakehouse, Moores, Sandbar, McIntyre's, Mantoloking Pub, Used to Be's, Donovans....they can book anyone they want, and yet they still welcome us. Thank you :))))
We are sponsored by Miller Lite (Pt. Pleasant Distributing), and have been for 16 years.....they've been soooooo good to us, so be good to them, and keep holding up those Miller Lites...Andy and all the people there are what you call good people, and as you know, that's hard to find. We're very appreciative.
I'll stop rambling now.... thanks for listening, and we'll see ya 'round !!

if i forgot anybody let me know ! my fingers are tired, and i have to save them for the piano, etc.........!!
just wanted to let ya know that we feel blessed to be in the game, and we hope to go on having good times with all of you.... Let the summer begin……

well, i just found out that Park Hill's has officially closed. we just played there on saturday night (oct 22, 2005), and apparently we are the last band to play there. bittersweet title, i have to say.... well, we already miss John Parkhill (the owner, who was just so good to us, and i still have a tough time believing that my friend is gone), and now we'll miss Paul, the manager, and all the bartenders, barbacks, bouncers, and wait staff who always treated us with respect and made us feel like part of the place.... i want to wish them all luck in whatever they do next, and hopefully we'll see you 'round.... thank you for having us......

it's april 23rd, 2005...about 4:45 AM...just got home from our show at the Whiskey Bar, in hoboken. we've been incorporating my piano into our live shows now for a while, and this was our first time doing it at the Whiskey. fits like the preverbial glove. i haven't played piano with my band in about 14 years, and i have no idea why i've waited this long. shoulda been doin' it all along, but whatever, it feels good now. the response from the audiences has been very good, and the dynamic it adds to our sound is pleasing to us, to say the least. "Story of My Life" sounds like "Story of My Life". "Primrose Lane" now sounds the way i heard it in my head when i wrote it with Jim Babjak. and don't even get me started about how it feels to play "What'd I Say?"....whew. i hope you you guys like it as much as we do.... when you've been playing as long as we have, it's good to change the landscape. well, g'nite and thanks for keeping your ears open and letting us in....i'll be checking in soon... mike |

| "Glider" |
[Nov. 1st, 2004|12:09 pm]
|
hey there... whew. I know it took too long, but it is finally finished. "Glider" is my 4th CD release, and i promise not to wait so long 'tween cds again. Yes, my name is on the cover, but it wouldn't have been completed without the band and many other musicians. Eddie and Jimmy, of course play on a lot of it. Every time i go into my studio with those guys, i am reminded what great musicians they are and just how much they add to the songs i write. Nick is new to the band, but we did get him some tracks, and he was great, as well. I wrote a number of songs with the guitar player for the Smithereen's, Jim Babjak, who played his trademark guitar on a whole bunch of tracks. He even brought in his drummer, Dennis Diken on "Needle in my Vein". I'm honored. Even members of previous lineups of my band were on hand...Jeff Rataski, Damian Fontana, Kenney Petersen, Bob Romanowsi, and Pete McGinley all played on "Glider". I'm really lucky to have so many talented players to work with. Greg Felise, who played with us for 7 years, from 1997 to 2004, is playing bass on some of the songs too. Other musicians include Kurt Reil and Vince Grogan from the Gripweeds, and Rob Pokol, our roadie from a few years ago. I even convinced the very busy Trevor Dalton to sing and play the kazoo !
I re-vamped my studio from my old analog system to a computer based program called Nuendo. I'm very old school and resistant to technological change but Rory Daniels convinced me to get with the program and record on this format. I'm so glad i listened to him, because he was right, and now i'm addicted to recording in this fashion. Thank God i have both his phone numbers cuz without about 140 phone calls to him, i'd still be in the studio trying to just turn the thing on ! Eddie too, had to come over and rip the computer apart time and time again to keep it working. I'm clueless about that stuff, so it's important that i keep these computer-savvy guys around ! (At one point, something crashed on me, and we had feared the worst...that ALL the songs were lost somewhere in computer heaven (hell, actually), and Eddie, Tom Robbins, & Joe Huybens saved me and found these songs that were years in the making!). After this project, Jimmy, Nick, Eddie, and myself are going to dive into working in the studio as a unit, from start to finish. The touches these gentlemen put on my songs are so good, that i'm looking forward to producing music with them as a team.
I hope you enjoy the songs on "Glider", it's an album that's very close to me, and i'm very proud of it. Let us know what you think, tell your friends, and spend some quality time with the lyrics as well as the music.... no one's perfect, and there very well may be stuff on it that you think sucks. (hope not, though!)....any feedback is good feedback, and is of great help to an artist like myself who wants to grow.
We've decided that we're going to be playing a lot more originals at our shows from now on. We've been putting more of them in the sets lately to great responses, and we want to go further in that direction than we ever have. The release party is on Friday, November 19th at Bar Anticipation, in Belmar. We're doing mostly originals that night, new & old, including some that we've never played live before. That will be the first day you can buy "Glider", however we're already getting advanced orders through our website and P.O. Box !!
Well, that's it for now. See ya soon... Peace, Mike |

hey... it's mike. just wanted to thank all you people who have been coming out so far this summer to check out the band with our new bass player, Nick Massaro. Nick's a great addition to our band and the feedback about it has been extremely positive. soon, you'll be hearing our new originals, probably before the cd even comes out as well as new stuff from the Foo, Hoobastank, Sublime, and more. hope you're all having a good summer so far, and we look forward to seeing you at the shows.... peace, mike |

hi everybody, it's mike. As we approach the summer of '04, here are a couple announcements.
The long awaited 4th CD is 96% done, and is soon going to the presses. It will be out during the summer and there will be a Release Party soon, probably at Bar Anticipation. The date hasn't been set, but we'll be sure to let you know. The CD was a long time in the making (too long), and we're very excited about it. As some of you probably know, a personnel change is in the process of being made. Greg Felise is moving on to other things, but he was cool enough to give us a lot of notice, and he's playing through Memorial Day Weekend. So, if Greg was your "favorite Beatle", you may wanna get out and see him one last time with the band. Check the schedule and try to make a show so we can see him off in the right way.
All of us in the band wish Greg the best, and want to thank him for 7 years of playing with us. That's all for now. If you have any thoughts or comments or limericks about the band, please write 'em in the guestbook and we'll check 'em out.
